Hi, I've been facing 'Self Referrals' issue in Google Analytics since long now. Alot of experts have suggested that I should filter the traffic through 'Referral Exclusion List', however, I wouldn't prefer doing it. I'd like to know the reason what causes 'Self Referrals' exactly? Below are few points that I'd like to highlight so you could suggest a solution accordingly: 1) I am using Google tag manager 2) All the pages on the website contains GTM code 3) Website have many sub domains but each sub domain have separate GTM code Looking forward to the solution. Regards, Kushal
You can always make a new view and then apply filter on that. Alternatively, tinkering a bit with custom dashboard can help too..
Hi Kushal, There is the only solution available in Google Analytics to get rid of referral spam and that is filter. You need to create filters in a way so that you have eliminate all identified referral spam from future GA reports. Use regular expressions to create exclude filters and also create a filter to remove ghost hostname from the GA reports. If you still need any more help then message me. Thanks
