How do i find the level of competition for certain Keywords in SEO?

    Hi Guys
    Lets say i want to create a website on how to travel India and my keyword is "Travel India Guide". I will use SEO Techniques only to come on the first page of Google.

    How will i find out that how much competing websites and competing pages are there for this certain keyword?
    What is the best way to figure out the competition for that certain keyword.

    Please advice.

    hit that term in google, then take every result on the first page and run them in yahoo's site explorer, if they have high amount of backlinks it's pretty tough to beat.

    Competition numbers don't matter, the 10 sites on the 1st page of the SERPs are your competition. Download MarketSamurai or TrafficTravis to get a better snapshot of the competition. Or if you use Firefox download the Rankchecker addon.

    All you have to do is Google the term you want to rank for, then use Google Adwords Keyword Tool & Yahoo Site Explorer to determine the level of competition for the sites that rank for those terms.
