Hi, I need to find out about a name that at which websites/blogs/press-release/social media/forum has been mentioned even only once. I need to find out every mention on the internet has been in the past years. I tried socialmentioncom , mylife com, who-me com, people411search com, Topsy but couldn't get the desired results. do you know any other effective platform or tools on which I can get every mention on Internet. I set up Google alerts but that will work for future mention, not the past one. I need to find the whole past about that name. looking forward to the help please. I need this for Online Reputation Management project.
Okay, so I am going to presume you are looking for tools and resources associated to data collection, commonly known as Doxing and Open-source-intelligence (OSINT), where the goal is to use 'open' (publicly available sources) to locate, highlight and acquire information. The Past - use the 'Wayback Machine' by the Internet Archive, it was created back in 1996 and offers a searchable collection of Websites. It is an important tool, but unless you know the specific URL or URI you are looking for, and it has been indexed and curated, then this tool might be of no use. Here is an example of an old (2004) 'ShadowCrew.com' thread retrieved through archive: [URL]http://web.archive.org/web/20041030033724/http://www.shadowcrew.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9151&sid=4e0ebcfdad20358e62d0926e5c15f584[/URL] Code (markup): Shadow Crew was a site promoting the 'darker side' of the Interwebs, they had their collective 'scalps' claimed back in late 2004 by the United States Secret Service, as this landing page details: http://web.archive.org/web/20041123023538/http://www.shadowcrew.com/ Code (markup): Outside of Wayback Machine, the past is the past and it is consigned to the ether of history. Unless it is relatively recent, then use 'advanced search operators' like cache in Bing and Google to do some discovery. I know this is an old thread, but for posterity here is a comprehensive archive of over 100 OSINT resources: http://i-sight.com/resources/101-osint-resources-for-investigators/
