How do I find good places to submit links?

So the general question is "How to know where to submit?" And the second question - "Which method finds you best pages?". Here's what I know from my little experience:

1. The best method I found so far is to check backlinks of your competitors, using some SEO software, and to try submit in those same pages (if they have a good PR, of course).

2. Another OK method, which mostly gives you quantity but little quality is to work through the lists of open directories. I usually get those lists from www.directorycritic.com.

Any secrets you can spill?

 

Yes dir. submissions is good strategy, but you can also use, forum posting, blog commenting, sponsoring themes and others too .

viral marketing.

Copy the competition, yahoo their back links and get the same ones.

Most of the lists have a pagerank of 0.
