I have a 2 year old dental discussion forum running on vBulletin with the following stats: JULY STATS: Members: 22,000 PR2 with lot of PR2 inner pages [PR dropped this update] Alexa: 250,000 Top 5 traffic sources - 1. US, 2. Canada, 3. European Countries, 4. Australia, 5. India Revenue: $600/month [Adsense, Banner and Link sales, Newsletter marketing] Pageviews: 2,21,003/month Hits: 955924/month Its one of the most popular, highly advertised active dental forum. I am currently looking to sell it but confused about the forum's worth. Please suggest me! Thanks
One basic guide seems to be approx 10 months revenue, but that's no hard and fast rule. $600 a month is a pretty good revenue, so you'll need to have a lot of convincing data to back it up. For this sort of money, it's definately worth working on your sales pitch, so show the true value of your site
Thanks for the heads up Abuntis! How do you mean by sales pitch? $600 revenue is split here: Adsense $300+ [can provide screenshots] Link and banner sales $300
With that many members, and because it's a popular forum, the 10 month rule may not apply, in fact, you may be able to get quite a bit more from the right person. Popular forums sell pretty well, especially profitable ones like yours. As long as you have all the stats that show consistent earnings...I would try to get upwards of 10k for it.
I completely agree on your points. I have the adsense stats ready from January 2008, sometimes the adsense revenue even crossed $450/month. I will definitely look forward to sell it at a good price very soon.
The 22k user base is amazing, that is very appealing to a buyer, and sets your forum apart from many others. The revenue is high, and there are many different ways to generate revenue through the website, which is excellent. Most of the traffic is from the US, which is another excellent bonus. It gets tons of traffic and has a very nice alexa rank also. I would appraise the site to be worth about $10,900
Thanks for the heads up Abuntis, shamus and Idees! I have lot of registered members, but very few will be online at a given time. Most of them just read and go away. Anyways, i am looking for a prospective buyer so that he develops the forum more efficiently!
try dnscoop.com they give prices for domain names, after that you can come up with a price for your site included. good luck
