How do I create a proxy?

Hey guys, it has come to my attention that there is an ever increasing demand for proxy sites on the internet. Many student in schools are blocked from accessing such sites as myspace, ebay and facebook and look at proxies to get passed their school firewalls.
My question is, could I get some assistance with setting up a proxy, no need to help me out on the page development and coding but just the implementation of the proxy itself. Thanks for you help.

BTW I was not too sure whether to post this in the programming section or website section, my apologies if it is in the wrong section. However I think this merges with both.

Right so a Phproxy is 'The server that this script runs on simply acts as a medium that retrives resources for you. The only IP address shown will be the server's IP address. So basically, it is indirect browsing. The only catch being that the server has to have access to those otherwise inaccessible resources.' Right I know this, how would I implement a proxy on my site?

I would recommend the Zelune script - it is much better than phpProxy and less resource heavy
