Like my friend's hubby would said, "another one that bites the dust" and ain't song, but this is the copywriting forum and, if you read the sticky thread above the fold, you will find the difference between this and the copyright term.

Nonetheless copyscape is for checking duplicate content and one thing is checking for plagiarized work and this part of your question makes me wonder if you are mixing concepts.

If you are talking about maintaining your rights to your articles (i.e., establishing copyright), you already have. Copyright exists in a work once it is "fixed in a tangible medium". Once you've written it, it's copyrighted. I advise that you print it out the day it is created with the computer's date stamp on it, so you can show the creation date. Put the proper notice on it, and you're good to go...

If you mean, how do you register, you go to www.copyright.gov and register it with the Copyright office. Online registration of a work is $35.

If you have other questions, let me know.

Once you write something, it's copyrighted (provided you haven't violated someone else's copyright in writing it).

If you want to use the court of law to enforce your copyright (e.g. suing someone for reproducing your work without permission), then you need to register the copyright with the U.S. Copyright Office like DeenaEsq explained. This is assuming you're in the U.S.
