    I didn't see this one suggested as I scanned through, but 'MPEG StreamClip' is probably the best one I have used. It is for both Mac and PC, and best of all......it is FREE! It can be found at squared5 dot com.

    oh thanks. It's good. I use Macvide FlashVideo Converter, it's not free, but i use a trial version and it's hasnt a time limit.

    Handbrake is good freeware, it's open source.
    Many DVD Rippers are shareware , but they would be faster than Handbrake, if you have many DVDs to rip and don't want to wait too much time, recommend you to get a shareware.
    You can google and get some good rippers.
