    I have folders like domain.com/folderofstuff
but also I have it set up for folderofstuff.domain.com

how do i get the subdomain to show up in yahoo instead of it being indexed as domain.com/folderofstuff ?
Is this something I have to do in my Godaddy account?

Careful dude.. Google might see both and "pull you up on" dupe content..
If you are hosted with godaddy im not sure..

In my cpanel ( am with hostmonster..) I just add a subdomain and point at the folder and hey presto..

Yeah, google behaves, I have added subdomains to it's webmaster tools area...
But, yahoo, being the easy to read result returner is giving me the piss with this dilema. :p

It's possible I may have done this someplace within the website or on another site a couple of years ago. Any way to tell it to redirect without setting off any whistles?

Thanks. I think I have found the exact solution by using the proper search terms that you provided there. :)

I'm going to go with this one ;)
    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(www\.)?domain\.com$
    RewriteRule ^folder/(.*) http://folder.domain.com/$1 [R=301,L]

This will redirect all requests for www.domain.com/folder or domain.com/folder to folder.domain.com.

You can create a subdomain from godaddy control panel and point it to domain.com/foldername
