How do I compete with a blog network for backlinks?

Hey everyone. I'm wondering how I'll ever compete against a site for a specific keyword when they are part of a blog network of about 6 blogs that update everyday and link back to that specific blog in the sidebar. That's crazy backlinks right there.

The advantage I have though is that I publish higher quality articles and get backlinks from bigger blogs (PR6, PR8, etc). But as in quantity, my backlink count is only 1/4th of what my competitor has.

What are some suggestions you may have to compete against them. During the past two months, my SERP for my keyword has went from 45 to 23 so I'm making some progress but it's all basically failure unless I reach page 1 or 2.

    Thanks.

Then I think it's time for you to get more backlinks from sites that share similar niche because it's not just about the content anymore as they update their blogs on daily basis.

    All the best!

backlinks are great . . . but also time is a major factor, and also more content . . . i know you say you have more and better articles . . . but you need more trust me. I dont even know what you blog is or what its about but if you want to see results add more content.

Also what difference does it make if they are number one . . . there are still 9 other spots on the first page. If one site is well known but not liked or the content is to hard to find then it doesnt matter if they are number one, visitors will also visit the other sites on the first page. It sounds nice to be able to say " I am number one " though I also know that. But it is NOT a necessity - or however you spell it - to be successful.
