You can see with their username whether they are verified or not

If they already made payment, you can log into your paypal account, click on the transaction in the Activity Transaction, it would show up if it is a Verified or unverified account. If it shows up as unverified, you can refund the payment.

If they have not made payment yet then go to Send Money in Paypal, type in the person's email address and proceed by clicking to the Confirmation page. It will show up the person's status. As long as you do not click to the following screen, no money would be withdrawn.

When requesting for money, use the Buy Now button or the Request Money option so you can get the person's mailing address too. This way you can confirm if the address looks valid or reasonable enough or not. If possible, contract the other party via email too and wait for a response, then use look at their email header to determine if the IP address matches the Country listed in the address.

Okay, if you have not received payment yet. Do the Following

    1. Log into your Paypal account
    2. Click on 'Send Money'
    3. Enter Email Address of the other party , an amount like 0.01 and select the 'For' radio button, any option would do.
    4. Click on 'Continue'

On the Confirmation page, it will show you if the account is verified or not when it is a registered email address. If it is unregistered, it will tell you so.

It does not matter if your account is a personal or a business account.

Could you place a screenshot of what you see ?

If the other party is not a registered paypal member then there is nothing.

I can't place a screenshot (no photoshop old comp)

but I can give a basic description:

    Payment Received (ID #***********)

    Transfer to:
    name here
    Buyer Email:

    Payment Sent to:

and nothing else is supplied.... no verified, no unverified.... so should I trust this person?
    what does this mean?

In the meantime, could you just ask them if they are paypal verified or not? I wouldn't trust them right away.

Ah, I see, you are looking at the online Activity Section rather than doing the Send Money option. I think that is where the misunderstanding is.

It looks like the Activity section no longer shows if the sender is verified or not. I supposed that this means that you already received payment.

Then check the email which Paypal sends you about the order and if it is unverified, it would say so in the email but it would be silent if it is verified.

    Something like this

You can check it easily on
    https://www.paypal.com/us/verified/pal=email

It gives you information if the receiver is verified and his registration date.
