In Google you can type link:www.domain.com and see a sample of your backlinks. Do the same command on Yahoo and they will show you a much larger percentage of your links, including nofollow links. In Google Webmaster Tools there is a section for external links. It should be easy enough to find since GWT only has so many pages.

    Google:

    link:domain.com

    Yahoo:

    linkdomain:domain.com

I have sitemap too. Google tells me how many links are in my sitemap, and then tells me how many they indexed. Not sure why they don't index all of them.... there aren't that many.

The internal links are within your domain... how your pages are all linked together on the site.

The external shows you links from other domains :)

Also, note. The links you get shown in your webmaster tools will probably be way more than what google uses in their algo for placing you in the index. They are picky about which external links they use. Mostly those links that you see in webmaster tools will probably be NOFOLLOW. Even though they are nofollow links, google still shows them to you in your webmaster panel.

Here is my favorite tool: http://www.backlinkwatch.com/ and Yahoo Explorer of course.
Google won't show all backlinks until you check in Google Webmaster Tools.

I use Yahoo Site Explorer. It is pretty accurate. Google is horrible if you try to search for your backlinks through them. Many may not even show up.
