I personally use a wordpress blog that I have an amazon store embedded in. In my blog updates there will be the enhanced single image ads of products related to the topic I'am discussing. On my blog I also do reviews of products, and the post will have banners based on keywords in the blog post. I'll post a video on youtube, embed it into the site and have a product banner under the video on my site. There are all kinds of little tricks that you can use. Just use your imagination.
Some marketers are creating micro niche sites which are related to one specific product and having good results. Find a product keyword that can be used as your domain name (example "babythermometers...."). Then find specific product keywords related to your main keyword. Write a short description of each product, and then put your amazon link on each post or page. Try to find products with lower competition and a good search count. Stay away from using any trademarks in your domains.
