How do I avoid http protocol in a link?

    Hi all,

I'm trying to add a "Skype" link to a Website. Unfortunately I'm not having much luck despite following the online advice to the letter.

The problem seems to be that skype is a protocol, therefore the link will look like "skype:username?call". However, IE and Firefox seem to view this as an internal link and precede it with http://www.sitename.com thus rendering it useless.

Does anybody know if there is a way to create an absolute link using the skype protocol?

I hope this makes sense?

I don't know of any way to do that.

From my knowledge IE and FF (at least them two, if not more) will place http://www.site.com/ infront of anything that isn't mailto:... or http://...

It seems your site CMS changed your skype links, check your HTML source. This page has the test skype: links and my IE and FF open them correctly.

You're right about it being the CMS (I'm using Cubecart). Unfortunately I checked the HTML and even tried hard coding the link into the sidebar, but it still adds the http:// stuff.

    Any ideas?
