How do I adjust the h1, without having it visibly show?

I have opted to use an image in my continuing education blog, over the the big heading, but i'd still be able to take advantage of the h1..

This is the code for my heading:

    <h1><a href="<?php bloginfo('url'); ?>"><?php bloginfo('name'); ?></a></h1>

Can anyone advise on a best practice to accomplish this?

    Many thanks!

I think you got a pretty good method that will look good and have pretty good SEO it just doesn't seem to be working on your blog now. This is the code that is generated from that line:
    <h1><a href="http://blog.internetce.com"></a></h1>
    Code (markup):
obviously the php <?php bloginfo('name'); ?> is not returning anything for some reason. Perhaps 'name is not defined?

I see what you mean now. You want to keyword stuff your <h1> tag and hide it so search engines see it but people do not. Generally this is not a good idea and most search engines are just going to ignore it. There are many techniques including changing the font size to 1 and the font color to white. I think the best is using style="display:none" SE will still index it but I doubt it will have the weight that a normal h1 tag would have.
