How do I add the code to a Smarty template footer file?

    How do I add the code to a Smarty template footer file?
    i have installed phplinkdirectory script at dir-submission.com
    there i have a file footer.tpl where i have placed the following code:
    <?php
    ini_set ("include_path", ini_get ("include_path") . ':../:../../:../../../:../../../../');
    include ('ad_network_272.php');
    echo $ad_network;
    ?>

    i don know whether .tpl file understand the .php or there is any other way to call ad_network_272.php

    when i checked my a/c in dp adnetwork it gave me this error:

    Site failed automatic validation as of 2005-07-17 (make sure URL and site type is correct - if everything is correct, make a request in the forum for assistance).

    pls help me out :)

    I guess no one knows about .tpl or never tried coop ad-network on phplinkdirectory script.
