edit Header (header.php) of your theme in themeditor under themes tab->themes editor tab...there see some meta stuffs are already added and you can add meta tags with in <head> </head>

or just use plugin ALL In One SEO Pack it'll automatically do for u as u specify keywords desc. in options->All In SEO tab in admin panel

    http://wp.uberdose.com/2007/05/11/all-in-one-seo-pack-help

Using that plugin u can give a good title to post pages and archives categories....

Can you post the download link of that plugin?? Also as you said if I placed that in header file then that keywords and description is applied to all the pages isnt? I just want to give that meta to home page only.

I suggest you use Add Meta Tags plugin.
I am using it on all of my sites and it works great.

I use this one too. I only wish it allowed you to set the meta tags for each individual post, instead of globally.

It allows you to set meta tags for individual posts, that's why I like it so much.
Use "keywords" and "description" custom fields :)

I checked last night, I actually do have the new version. I'm still not seeing those per-post meta fields :confused:is that something you have to insert manually? I certainly don't see anything in the admin menu... beyond the global meta tag menu.

When you are editing your post, there is a section called "Custom Fields". Add one called "description" and the content will be shown as the meta description. Same goes for "keywords".
    Good luck.

Strange that you value meta keywords and tags so much... here in this video a google rep states that they don't care much for the meta tags or keywords, but focus on original content (not copied texts but unique texts) and so on.
