How do I add Keywords?

I was reading about SEO, and I was wondering if you could add Keywords to your site manually, so that when people search for something, your site will be relevant to their search? I'm new to this, so I don't know everything about this yet.

there's so much to mention abt this. But i will just suggest a few immediate ones.

use a keyword research tool like the one in overture:
    inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/

then decide what keywords you want to target. Then you have to include them in <h1> & <h2> headers if possible. Next try to spread out these keywords in relevant places in your site, and not anywhere you like. SE look at density as well and any unreasonable density will be discounted.

Remember to also update your description, title, keywords at the top of your page, which are highly important.

I don't profess to be an expert, but these are things I wld suggest =)
