    Hi,
I am trying to design a logo which has white text with black borders and looks like is elevated a little.
The best example I can show is "paypal logo.
Any idea how I can get similar effects for my text using photo shop 7?

I have tried "drop shadow", "develant and emboss" in the layer style menu but nothing comes even close.
Kindly suggest some settings etc. to get those looks for my text.
    Thanks

right-click on text layer and click blending options. with stroke option, you can add border to the text, also customize color and size.

    Hi,
    Thank you for the help.
A similar option is also available under "filters", "brush strokes" menu.
    This is good.
    Thank you

You could rasterize your text-layer, select it and then go to Edit->Stroke and do it there, or like already mentioned above Go to Bending Options -> Stroke.

Note: if you rasterize your text-layer, you won't be able to edit your text anymore.
