How do I add Adsense to my Wordpress blog?

I know that I may sound like an idiot, but because Adsense is so user friendly on blogger I never really had any problems with it. I just started a Wordpress blog and I am thoroughly confused on how to add Adsense. I was reading some forums, but most of them say to copy the code and paste it in the sidebar. When I do go to the sidebar I can only drag "Widgets" over and not paste text. Help! Please! Thanks in advance.

You could also try the Adsense Injection plugin for Wordpress. It randomly picks a paragraph break in your blog post, and puts an Adsense block there. This integrates the ads with your content (higher CTR) and the random location helps to fight ad-blindedness.

If you dont use plugins, it is still easy. You can go to presenteation, then theme editor and open sidebar at the left. You can copy/paste the adsense code there. I dont see anything difficult here..

I think he's talking about a blog on Wordpress.com. It's similar to Blogger, but they don't allow Adsense.
In fact they come down heavily on anything that looks anything like a splog - last year, I had one of my blogs on there (temporarily) deleted because one of the posts contained an affiliate link.

Thanks Sophia8, it was in wordpress. I finally just transferred everything to blogger, much easier with the adsense. Any other suggestions on affiliates? I use adsense and click bank. Any advice on colors and placements. Currently I have a skyscraper on the right hand side as well as a horizontal banner at the bottom. I tried placing it at the top, but it got cut off as the template size does not stretch all the way across. At the bottom of my template I can put it, but not under the titel at the top. Any suggestions? Thanks again all for your responses.

I would need to see the site in question to comment. Each site is different as to what Visitors respond to. The only real way i've found to know about placment, ad format, and colors is to use channels and test until you get it right.

Use the adsense deluxe plugin to place adsense ads in your wordpress blog. It is by far the best way to add adsense to a wordpress blog.
