Adding adsense into posts is very good to get clicked.To do it you can use adsense deluxe plugin which you can download from http://www.acmetech.com/blog/2005/07/26/adsense-deluxe-wordpress-plugin/ And static ads can be added to template files which located /wp-content/themes/your-theme-name/ it can be also accessed through template manager in admin menu.

i use adsense injection plugin to add adsense inside posts and Google Adsense widget to add it in side bar!
I'm using an adsense theme called "Ads Minded". You can see it in action at one of my sites at joeknowitall.com ~ it came with a marketing package I bought and I don't know if it's available freely or not but the package is a $7 deal anyways so no big investment.
