How do I add a BLOG to an existing site

I want to add a blog for SEO purposes. I don't have the faintest idea how to create a blog. I am not interested in making money from it, just traffic. I don't want ads and I want all the PR to go to my site, not some hosting service.
I built my website from scratch, using Dreamweaver and CSS, so If I need to create a separate site or page, that's fine. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

The favored method is to create a sub-domain, i.e. blog.url.com

In the subdomain folder, you'll want to install WordPress or other similar blog software. WordPress comes with different themes ready to install but there are tons of other free and paid versions. Typically, the paid themes are more sophisticated and come with technical assistance and/or user forum.

Added to the theme are hundreds of downloadable widgets that add functionality.

In the navigation and body, you can add links back to the main site for the SEO value and vice versa.

There's a bit of a learning curve however when working with php, it's nothing like html. But, at least you can use CSS for many of the appearance functions.

You can also add static pages pages which is nice. Many websites are now built on Wordpress exclusively and you'd never know that the foundation is blog software.

Wordpress is a free download from Wordpress.org.

    I hope this helps!

    Good luck!

You can either do it as blog.url.com or url.com/blog
If you have a hosting plan with cpanel than you surely in luck.

Log into your "cpanel" and click on "Fantastico" and you will see "wordpress" Its a 1, 2, 3 type of thing from there. If you have any other questions about blogging ref to Build A Blog.

I would rather select creating a sub directory than a sub domain...
