    Hi guys,

How do free blog hosting companies make money? Here is one random one I pulled off the net.

    http://www.aeonity.com/

I am guessing the guy sets up one site like this and then points a link at another site to pass PR.

But he only has PR 4

Yep, and some of them sell sitewide links as well.

Of course with an install of WPMu and a cheap reseller account, they could be doing it all for under ten bucks a month.

They post advertisements on free blogs, so if you have a high-traffic blog, they get a lot of ad-clicks.

Most also offer an upgrade feature, so if your blog is doing well you can pay to remove the ads and get other features (such as having it on your own domain).

Im wondering if an adsense account can be banned for inappropriate content that's why Im slightly hesitatant. There are a lot of sites out there with the same business model.

The WPMu thing is cool but Im wondering about built in features for me the host to make money. (also i know a lot of scrapper scripts post to such blog scripts. )

I see a lot of commercial scripts as well online which have all these things built in.

What cheap resellers do you recommend?

It's an issue. There's a mature blog script that, if you go the wpmu route, should come up with a search on the mu forums. Stress to folks that if they choose to go that route, they should mark their blog as such and just set up the adverts not to display on those blogs. Put it in the ToS/AUP for the site so if you catch someone not marking their blog as such, you can toss them if you feel the need.

I wouldn't go the cheap reseller route. Do remember that if you have a wpmu install with 200 blogs, you have the same server load as 200 wordpress blogs.
