I have a basic understanding but I'm still a bit confused. Is it just somebody putting your site on their site?
Yes a link from another site to you is an one way link actualy If you link back is reciprocal Is it that hard to google it ?
It's not but isn't it better to actually use this resource that I'm provided? Why not ask a whole forum full of people rather then stumble upon a site that hasn't the slightest idea about what they're speaking of. I didn't ask you to reply.
Yes, one way is someone putting your link on their site. The following would help a lot: 1) The site who's linking to you has Page Rank over 0 2) The site linking to you is linking to you via a link that is NOT tagged with NO FOLLOW 3) The site linking to you is somewhat related to the niche/category of your site 4) The link on their site is in the CONTENT of their site For more advanced info on how to get backlinks and issues regarding link strategies, go to http://www.highrevenue.com or http://www.searchengineland.com I wish you the best!
I'd like to add that you should try to gain links from websites which actually provide some value or content to their readers. There's a large number of pointless directories, link lists or articles bases made purely for advertisement and money-making. Links from these usually provide a value which is not significant, to say the least.
PageRank of this site is just 2, and Alexa doesn't even have a rank information on it. I'm afraid a number of such generally-oriented articles collections is too high and too few people actually read them, it's exactly what I meant in my previous post.
To put it very simply, back link is nothing but your site address put up on another website, through which the visitors of that particular site has ready access to come to your site. Regards, RightMan
So do I get my link on those people's sites by commenting or do I contact the author and ask him to put my link on his site?
You can do both, sometimes if you start dropping your links into peoples comments then they will see it as spam. Depends how you want to do it and if its relevant to your site content
I was actually just reading that funny enough, so is it safe to say that I would want to get my links dofollow blogs???
Anchor Text backlinks are the best for SEO ... see here: http://www.seochat.com/c/a/Search-Engine-Optimization-Help/How-to-Use-Anchor-Text-in-Backlinks/
Well, I've exchanged links with two websites already, one is off of a pr3 and one is on a pr3...... I've also begun to gather a list of dofollow blogs that I plan on posting on..... How am I doing so far????? Also, does anyone really get traffic from the comments they leave on peoples blow because I don't see how it would work because the person would have to click on your name......
You are doing well - do not expect instant results ... look on it as a long-term strategy ... if you get one link a day ... you will have 365 in a year! it is hard to keep the motivation going ... but if you stick with it - you will benefit greatly in the end.
So tom, you seem pretty knowledgeable, is it considered a backlink when I post a comment on someones blog and I put my website in?
Yes. That is considered a back link. If you browse through the Freebies section of the BST thread you can find a few people advertising their blogs that doFollow. These generous people only ask that you make relevant comments.
