How directories to make profits

Hi guys,

I have seen many directories offering free submission.
However... Do these directories make good income?
It is doubtful ....!?

If there is a directory offering both free and paid submission, which one do you prefer ? Why?

 

Free directories don't make huge profit (there maybe exceptions, of course).
If you have free and payed I go for free one some directories and payed at others. Why?
Depends on PageStrentgh of DIr, age, advertising made, etc...

Note that featured links are payed.

 

some make it through adsense etc, some through paid submissions and some via affiliate links.

 

featured listings are good for other websites, and good for the budget of directory

 

I run a few. The Free Website Directory offers 5 deep links and better placement if they go featured. People do pay. We'll see with the adsense, you really need to blend as webmasters avoid like the plauge.

The key with a free directory is the free traffic and lots of it. If you can handle the spam, get on the free lists and enjoy the ride.

 

I am making good money with my directory through adsense and featured links, and my directory is not that good..
