I'm asking this because I really can't understand the algo

I'm active digg member with popular stories behind me , however sometimes I'm having story with 75+ diggs in an hour or 2 , but that story is not becoming popular. And sometimes I have 60+ diggs during 4 hour and story is becoming popular

    Anyone know the answer ?

    Thx

number of diggs is the main thing, but they have an algorithm to prevent fraud which groups users up. so if a lot of users from one "group" vote for the same story, it has less of an effect.
