    Hi guys

I have no clue about programming at all, so I thought to check with you expert people.

How difficult it is to make a loan and mortgage comparison site like confused.com and uswitch.com. These sites compare loans from various uk loan providers once the user fills in the details like loan amount, number of years for payment etc

How much it wud cost in programming and designing and what else wud be involved.

    Thanks

I suppose it depends on how much support you get from the loan/insurance/utility companies. If they provide a web service you can interact with then the programming wouldn't be too bad. If you have to go through their sites then the programming could be a real pain. It is typically not just one form that needs to be submitted but a whole host of them spread over several pages.

Then you have the problem that whenever one of the companies updates their website you have to alter how you interact with it.

It certainly isn't an easy project you're considering. If you can negotiate a streamlined interface with the companies (something like a web service) then it could be done relatively cheaply. If not then it is a serious undertaking and will probably run into thousands of pounds for even a small selection of companies. It would also be expensive to maintain.

It might be worth contacting confused and uswitch as they may have an affiliate system or better yet may have a system where you can run their searches through your site. A sort of 'powered by' type approach. Add some good content to that and you have a decent site.
