Hi Guys, I am news to this place. Thought someone would care to advice me a bit. I have a rather difficult niche with which I am working - Global Affairs. My intention is to monetize my blog someday. Do you think difficult niches make money at all. Is there anyone here who has made money running a difficult niche. Regards
what do you mean, exxactly, when you say "difficult niche"? usually, there's a few good keywords in every niche.
If you just want to make some pocket change, it's not too difficult to follow a few tutorials, read some ebooks, pick up on a few tips and make enough to go out for dinner now and then and pay your hosting fees. But if you want to make enough to pay your bills and live comfortably, then it's as difficult as any other business that you want to grow to that level. Making money online is hard. It takes learning. Hard Work. Ingenuity. Money. Time. Time (yep that much time). Business Skills. Marketing Skills. Dedication..and a failure or two to teach you what you did wrong. I will tell you this, if you follow all of the bad advice and misinformation that gets passed around about shortcuts, tricks, automation, and things that haven't worked since the 90's, you will never be successful. Learn how to build and run a website. Make yourself familiar with the different marketing and promotion options. Make sure you have a great product. Run it like a real business. and then do something that no one has done yet, or do it in a way that has never been done before...and you may have a 50/50 shot. You will not get rich online or anywhere else following in someone elses footsteps. You have to create your own path.
If you able to receive search engine traffic you can earn. It might be AdSense or any other affiliate networks or from direct ad sales.
I find it can depend on the following: Whether there are many adsense ads or affiliate ads for it, how well they pay, how much you know about the niche, how often the blog is updated, the quality of the articles, the usefulness of the articles, the interest by people, whether they come back to read more or visit once only, how competitive the niche is.....
It will be easier for you if you know a niche such that you can talk about it confidently and persuasively. Why? You know your stuffs. When you know your stuffs, you know what you are talking about. However, it is also proven by many internet marketers that you can make money with any niche you want provided that you do market research and learn & apply internet marketing strategies. If I were you, I would start with something I believe and that I love. Luck for you always..definitely
One word - traffic. If you want to use Adsense, you need tons of traffic, because the payout from it is fairly small. If you want paid advertisers, the amount of money they are willing to pay you for their ads depends on traffic. If you want to use affiliate products to sell/advertise, again - traffic is needed because the conversion rates (people who not only click the affiliate link but also buy the product) are typically fairly small. But I have to say, that your niche almost suggests itself for a paid copywriting/article writing.
