Well, hate to say this, but maybe originality counts. I spent the bulk of my web building with composing my own narrations (travelogue). I won't say travel-related theme is the *hottest* keyword out there but there's a market for it. Doing OK with Pagerank and do get traffic from Google. Not really a success story. For that purpose, ask people who make $500 per day LOL!
I use penny-plan hosting from accuwebhosting.com - that means I pay $0.12 per year for 50MB, 1GB B/W.
IMHO , you should know something about you web site : Does your web site provide people the reason to stay and return next time ?That means the content .All people visit web site for to main purpose one is for fun and the other is for finding something they need .Even for people visit web site for fun can explain for a purpose .So you should think about this before you try to get more traffic .Because if you do not have good content to support people the reason to visit your site , you will find out most of the visitor will stay less than 10 seconds on your web site and will not come again .sometimes they will tell their friends your web site sucks. But if you have good content in your web site , the traffic will increase themselves because people will tell people . So I would say content first and then SEO
This is how I plan to succeed in adsense game.. I gathered a lot of content writers (english and croatian content) and I m working to develop 5 "portal like" sites, with communitys and such.. Next step is 10 - 50 (no limit actually) much smaller sites, and my plan is to cross link them like crazy. Many niches are here included, realisation is currently on 50% Stay tuned
i wish I had a bandwith problem. i have a no-one-visits-my-sites problem. SEO doesnt work like it used to. Most seo firms are bogus and most seo techniqes flat out dont work anymore since there is too much competion and spammers exploit the SEO so search engines make it even more difficult to get good rankings. Unless you have a really big budget or plain lucky or excellent linkage your kinda out of luck. Metatags are worthless and alt tags, title tage and rich content is minimally effective. I only know of ONE good seo tip that brings marginal results at best.
Maybe, but your piece of advice is very valuable. I think a lot of people waste their time trying to make a fortune with Adsense by promoting just one site. When really, the money is in the multitude of sites that you have. Have you actually heard of anyone getting banned for this yet? I haven't...not yet at least.
and IMHO never will be.. it is almost impossible to point your finger and say "this site is built for adsense" because everyone can provide about 1000 arguments why he built "that" site, without even mentioning adsense or something similar
agree with SIK on that one... I have never heard of adsense banning a site for anything other than fraudulent clicks and porno. All these spam sites do is get dropped from the serps or deindexed all together, not adsense ban. But the thing you need to ask yourself is if you delve on the darkside,, are you sure you can make enough money off the site in the 1-2 month max to recover the costs of domain names and hosting. anyone can read of these darksiders registering 500 domain names a whack and then buiding spam sites.. but why? There may be money in it,, but these guys/gals seem to shoot for .10 cents to a $ a day per site. Then they rinse wash and repeat... i would say take your time and build a good site that you dont have to worry if or when your site will be deindexed. i for one am not trying to register 500 -1000 domains every month and pray to make a few dollars over my costs
Good ad placement is key but traffic comes first! If you can anticipate on what your visitors behaviour would be then you have something into your advantage. How do you know your visitors behaviour you might ask? Look at your site and think on what link would they click most likely then you should focus your ads in that area since your visitor when arriving on that area of the screen is so to speak already in ''clicking mode'' since he/she is interested to click the link but because the ad is near the link the ad being clicked is more likely if you put an ad not near a link. This is my expierence and i have seen good results from the minor visitors i have had since my site went online. Only thing i need now is good traffic and this is more the problem that i am anticipating at the moment, if traffic would be poring in i would get great results moneywise. By the way Chopster i have seen you have been on a promotion spree today how did it work out for you? Traffic wise?
I run about 15 websites. They all generate between 100 to 600 uniques a day and my average for this month has been $13.50/day. I want to get up to an average of $25/day, which is one reason I asked this question. Just to see if I was taking the right approach by making multiple sites. Apparently, from the responses in this thread, it appears that creating multiple sites is the answer. I like the comment by Fryman about how it's easier to create 10 sites that make $5.00/day, rather than 1 site that makes $50/day. Still, I wouldn't be too confident about it though. If Google did decide to cancel an Adsense account because they believed the site was built for Adsense, then they could still throw that list of 1000 arguments in the waste basket if they wanted to.
I agree with some of the forum members that having multiple sites is NOT the answer to make money. Build a good site, content rich and choose keywords that could get more dollars for every click. Of course you need to bring in traffic and that is possible only with a good site that provides lot of information.
I do not see how you say that multiple sites is not the best route or answer to make money! It is like the old saying " don't put all your eggs in one basket" If all your focusing on is one site, then you may well get hit with some unforseen issue that cripples your wallet. With multiple sites, it is safe to say that the issues that effect one will not effect all of them, hence you can still earn some money from the non effected sites. If you make one site and put all your time and energy into it,, you may reap some benefits from it in the future, but nothing immediate. So build 5 -20 smaller sites then go back and add content as you see fit.. I guarantee that the smaller sites will out perform the larger site in the the short to medium timeframe,, where as the larger site may start off slow and may build into a good income earner,, but then again it may not. I would go with the multiple site strategy... I am sure if a poll was started on this subject that 99% of the members that are making money would vote that they have multiple sites.
