I start it from online tutorial. Find a good site and do it step-by-step. I'm not photoshop master but at least i know what i can do with it.
trial and error and google its my 3 brain (google that is) 1 brain is on my head 2nd brain has a head 3 brain is head of the web!
I was actually inspired from a friend of mine way back when Photoshop was at version 5, then I practiced everyday learning every tool, then I wanted to get better to impress some chicks I knew and make graphics for them. 9 years later I now make my whole living based off of Photoshop, if it wasn't for Photoshop I wouldn't have a career =)
Allllllll on my own. Haha, yes it took a long time but I'm a fairly quick learner. I love using it to create websites, ebook covers and presentations. I don't really have any other need for it, but I do really love it.
me i started with coler ... then involve to adobe and just new wat to do and was stun when i notice adobe can do things i did the hard way in corel .. but no tuts or books i just lern my self ..
searched "photoshop tutorials" in google and went from there. A good site that I use it tutorialised. They're really good.

I started working in advertising 12 years ago and part of that was using photoshop. So I used to work till really late every night and just play, play, play till I got some results. I never read any books or watched a tutorial. But we never had tinternet back then ...
just messed around with it for a while. then learnt alot from doing a university course. being taught the basics in a course or something is the best way to start out. then you can just look up tutorials on the net to learn specific techniques
learned a little from my friend who was going to school for it then learned from tutorials and playing with it.
