How did you learn IM? How did you become successful in it? Was it books, courses, forums, a mentor? Im new to IM and was just wondering what path people go down to success.

    Thanks

The best place to learn is here, on forums. People start to ask questions and experts will give the best answer. It's usually the best way to understand where, how, who.

reading, buying courses, workshops, some forums, A LOT of trying stuff.
If you ask me the best way is personal coaching/mentoring.
If you find a good mentor he can teach you the bits and pieces.
It's very hard to learn and implement everything by yourself.
Myself I do learn a lot by myself but still its good when combined with coaching programs.

IM is a gigantic marketplace. If there is a particular aspect that you like, say email marketing, than I would try to learn all about that as best as I could while blocking out all the other "noise" that you will find along the way.

I've learned about IM when I started email marketing. I believe it was much easier back then.
Believe it or not, before I joined online communities I already learned from experience. But then I realized that I will be needing some help from the expert. so I started to join and be part of of a forum like this.

Talk to a few people, find a direction, and google your brains out.

The best way to learn is, to read and apply. Try it.
Figure your way around, because once you get it, you really get it.

No theories will ever work without doing the practical.

In the beginning I used google and searched out websites with information, then found a few forums and started reading and using their search functions.

Forums, networks and some trial and error to know what works and what doesn't. :)

I started because I wanted to generate leads for mlm. Then I learned about internet marketing and all the different methods for making money online. I started reading forums, researching a lot, and buying a lot of courses. After a while you know what works & what's crap.

If you can get a mentor/coach even better. Don't be afraid to invest into your education.

Some good people to follow if you're in to CPA marketing & paid traffic are Gauher Chaudhry, William Souza, Chad Hamzeh, Justin Dupre.

What I did was create a new Gmail account, and sign up to everything related to SEO and SEM you can, and as you go you will start to get a lot of emails from people trying to sell you stuff, but what alot of those people do is give you snippets of info while trying to sell you stuff. Those snippets are often pure gold :)

The best place is always FORUM. You can learn a lot on forums from veterans who are already years and years in IM. You can learn great tips and advice that you can find on any any book. These members are always sharing ideas according to their experience, may it be success or failures.

The forums here as well as other communities are quite good, though I'm more active on WF and such, check out the main page on each of those, and understand that SEO is about links more than anything, good, quality links.

Spend some time on the forum to learn the rudiment and terminologies associated with internet marketing. When you do these, then you wont have to learn the hard way be spending a lot of money and gaining nothing.

Having spend some time within the forum, you will discover the path and system to adopt within the IM world because the IM world is extremely vast and has the capacity of overwhelming.

Take your time and if you have any questions, ask on this forum and a thousand and one people will be more than willing to be of help to you

Yes, Yes it has. But you need to fail to grow. Or at least when you are failing that is what you want to believe :)
