As all the results in life, you must work hard in order to achieve them. The like button here should not be a target (at least was not for me). You have to get from this forum all what is said and to read between the lines most of the times, as results you may have the chance to understand what DigitalPoint means and you should be able to make some USD upon on this. On other forums there are requests even for "likes" on DigitalPoint - is hard for me to understand why do you need to cheat this simple thing, I got my likes based on my long experience and on the fact that when I'm writing something I'm 99% sure that I'm right. So stop fooling yourself - be hones with you first of all and WORK !!!
I never said that you cheated - I was pointing out just the fact that there are some other forums where users from here are "begging" for likes And I honestly have no idea for what the likes are good for
Back in January when the like system was first introduced I was enthusiastic about getting them as I am competitive by nature. But after reading comments from management about how worthless likes, trophy points and best answers are, I eventually lost interest in getting them. I must admit however that I still appreciate when members like my comments, as it's nice to know that there is consensus on stuff vis a vis members. Having said that it still irritates me though, when a thread gets deleted and members lose their likes through no fault of their own. Especially when it's a new member and they had only 3 likes and were just recently established, and they have to try to become established all over again.
I agree , as RosuC mentioned in other post, that this is also an online society and we must respect the rules, (agreed) . It is also human nature to be appreciated. I think their are two kid of people who are coming to these forums (other than SEO). One who is using this on daily basis and like to be a member of a online community. Second who is looking for an answer and found one and want to contribute and say yes, this is worked for me, ( hence the LIKE) to appreciate . My colleague Paul @ Business2Sell keeps bragging everyday that his post have received 6k view, 400 likes and 113 shares in LinkedIn... It is rewarding too ... and gives him motivation to create good content.
I am new - and already received a like. So cool beans. But I don't even see a like option - so unsure if I have to wait a certain amount of time for that option. At any rate, DP seems like a great board and hope to contribute what I can.
Like the man said he is a site seller not a copy writer. Don't go around avoiding the point. I think it is silly to jump through these hoops. There must be a better way.
It would be equally "silly" for me to respond to you. I have work to do and am more interested in making some money rather than debating what is essentially a non issue for me, as my post #6 stands on it's own merit.
