How did you get started in online business? Did you start with gpt, Hyips, freebie sites, ptc, affiliate freelancing etc., or did you actually start in affiliate marketing??

    Thanks for all input!

I used to play runescape for more than 12 hours a day. Then the trade update came which worsened things for me. I quit the game and started building an adsense site.

In the beginning I started as a link builder for all types of websites. I still have some clients and even have a full time employee now.

Hahaha, this is awesome :) I hope it is true :)

I started by losing money on Ebay selling eBooks and just as I was getting better they stopped allowing the sale of ebooks alltogether :'( . I got into affiliate marketing and creating products from there.

There's really no reason *not* to get started in something that can actually earn you money, and affiliate programs are the easiest way to figure out what works and what doesn't. The good thing is that affiliate programs don't cost anything, and you can learn without any real risk -- as long as you stay away from heavy PPC advertising until you figure out what works.

Here are a few simple steps to get started, and they won't cost you a dime:

    1) Pick a niche that interests you.
    2) Find a couple of products to promote (on Clickbank, for example) to that niche.
    3) Find a few good keyword phrases that you can use to promote the products.
    4) Start a blog to target the niche, and start writing short blog posts in your niche.
    5) Be sure to include your affiliate link (using your keywords) in your blog posts.
    6) Drive traffic to your blog posts.

I'd suggest finding a training course to learn how to make money with an affiliate program that can teach you the ropes. Feel free to check out "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Affiliates" link below.

But the question was: How Did You Start? or was it: Tell Us How To Start?

I started when I was like 13 by making a dragonball z website for fun on geocities. I thought it was great so then... in an attempt to promote it, I got really big into traffic exchanges lol. Then after seeing all of the make money online ideas on there I decided to try to make some money.

I made a website, it sucked.
I made a better website... it sucked less and I made a couple dollars.

And it continued like this until I became a Super Vendor! :)

I started with PPC in 2002. Made a few bucks. Since then, I've done much better. But still not 6 figs a year. Not bad though..could be worst I think.

I got started as an affiliate with clickbank. It has worked out well for me and currently I am using other avenues as well to generate income. The latest is product creation.

I've started with direct linking PPC an actually made some sales, but of course lose more money than I've earned from sales :). Now I'm starting with blogs and I hope it will work.

I started out in my online business first by travelling 100s of KMs
just to attend seminars. I also paid for so much courses which i usually
    keep vigil to read.

Finally I put up a mediocre product and marketing strategy
that took all my money and landed me in depth.

Then after a period of sobering I bounced back with a special vigour,
experience, skill and knowledge; with focus on affiliate marketing and
    freelance services provision.

    My Observation:

Trying to make money online based on what people
told you usually bring some unforeseen truckloads of ache.

    My advice:

Don't do anything until you get inner assurance of
understanding in any area you've been thought about.

Proof of this kind of understanding is:
    1. Efficiency and job satisfaction
    2. impulsive urge to innovate.
