So once again I am reading about this guy who feels like a failure because he "only" gets 15,000 hits per day. the numbers you people can get are staggering. i'm a REAL small fry, just starting up. if i bust my *** i can get maybe 100 people to my site in one day. how in the world did you get so huge? what percentage of your success do you owe to advertising? a newsletter? positive word of mouth? search engines? if you advertise a whole lot, how much do you spend?
Those sites the people talk about usually belong to these categories: 1) proxy 2) wallpapers 3) celeb and adult 4) warez/download sites 5) forums Maybe someone can add to that. All these get HUGE traffic. But these are not easy to make money from as well, despite that traffic. Just ask them.
If they're newb then yes to the list you've mentioned. With the proper tools, you can grow regular sites just as big.
two words: consistency + patience. It can take years for a site to get good traffic, just remember to never give up.

Seriously, it takes a lot of work to make a Website popular. The key is to make your site "sticky." Getting traffic is hard, but if you can retain visitors eventually momentum will help propel you to the top. If it were only true. I'm sorry, but this is a common misconception. People just assume that high-listed sites gets a lot of traffic. It's more like a few hundred or so. Well, actually, you are right, in a way. If the site is huge, and it has a lot of pages in a search, like Askmen, and About. I don't recall, it's been awhile, but I think the owner of DavesDaily ("funny news" and whatnot) told me that he is on page one, and it is a popular subject, and he gets, around, a couple of thousand daily hits, with spurts every now and then. No where near the most sought-after 10,000 daily mark. I know you disagree, but the fact is that on average it is in the hundreds for most sites, if that. But, screw it...it is free.
Good marketing is the key to NEW traffic Good product/service is the key to REPEAT traffic New traffic is fairly simple to get...work on getting good SEO rankings, pay for PPC traffic or post your product on affiliate networks for CPA traffic. If you can drop $25K a month you can get tons of hits from banner ad networks. Return traffic is a different story and it much more difficult. Good luck!
I'd like to see that keyword. 1000searches X 60minutes X 24hours in a day = 1440000. Meaning one million and a half searchers every single day. If you are ranked #1 under this keyword you should be getting one million hits per day only with this keyword. Dream on my friend The trick is to have lots of content and rank high for MANY keywords + be linked from related webpages, that is if your website is focused on content. With services its usually word of mouth and brand recognition, because you are on the scene for a while. Only so can you achieve huge (REAL) traffic.

my website has abt 100 uniques a day. I don't think it's too much, but the domain is very new. Hope, the quantity will increase, with a lapse of time PS: I've zero spendings at all. Only writing articles, submissions, participating in discussions, blogs, etc.
