i have been writing articles for press release sites for abt 2 years now. One site that amazes me is http://www.goarticles.com/ Just goto the home page of this site, in the center there is a section called "Most Viewed". Im amazed at the no of hits they have got in such a short period of time. I have a feeling it might be from a traffic exchange site but still its hard to get so many from that. Heres the list of articles (but just check it out from the site) Article Name No Of Hits Date Submitted Hit Per Day Acai Berry 122144 2010-05-14 10178 - This Super...... Article Marketing 112877 2010-05-04 5130 Tips - Learn..... Easily Make....... 108708 2010-05-13 8362 These r just 3 articles in that list but there are many more. Does any one have any idea on how these guys have got so much traffic ????? my only guess is either ad sense or traffic exchange, any other ideas ?? please let me know, cheers heres the site - http://www.goarticles.com/
my guess would be get paid to surf type of programs, but if their caught they'll be banned. They'd do it to get the links from being in that most viewed section which boosts their ranking.
I've long wondered the same thing. My conclusion is that it is a progression: -Your write a good article that gets highly rated early on and it shows up in the "highest rated" column on the main page which boost it's views -The boosted views helps you get more views, more ratings which solidifies your placement on that list...giving your more exposure -Finally you get so much exposure that you break onto the most viewed list, once there, you're basically assured of staying there with all the views you get from the main page My conclusion is partly luck in getting high ratings, partly talent in writing a good article that people are craving that people want to read. Not a very scientific explanation but it's my best guess.
im not sure what exactly u meant by "paid to surf" programs, u mean traffic exchange sites ??? , what r the sites that has a "paid to surf program ?
I guarantee 99% of those "visits" for the above articles are fake (not actual people interested in acai)
Go to google and check the backlinks for goarticles.com, you should get around 734 results. This means that the site has lots of page rank and is going to rank very high the search results. Regardless of what google says about the number of backlinks a site has, the more backlinks you have, the better you rank. And it looks like goarticles.com has plenty of links. That might explain why their articles get so many views.
No. GoArticles does get lots of traffic, but those acai articles with thousands of views have used fake traffic to move to the top of the most popular page...in a lame attempt to get some actual (real) visitors.
That was exactly the only logical explanation I could think of. I mean "Acai berry" REALLY? NO... Not that many people can actually be interested in this miracle fruit. In addition Goarticles? WELL I have my reservations with regards to that site. I know that they have a good PR and get lots of traffic, yet I do not think that the articles submitted there are of superior quality. They have an automatic approval, that leaves much to be desired with regard to article quality.
Pretty much. The articles on that site are crap - it used to bring in nice traffic (12-24 months ago) but most of the traffic dried up a long time ago. You need to do some serious backlinking if you want a GoArticles page to rank well on Google.
DLM, I could not agree more. As a writer I can assure you I have seen a lot of terribly BAD articles in that directory. When I get hired to write I usually do NOT submit to directories but when a client wants me to do that for them as well, I always advise them against GoArticles. I always say that people submit the articles that get rejected everywhere else there, because there is really NO real person reading and approving them. Of course that is my opinion, others might disagree...
We do run article directory and when people submit their articles some of them do some extra link building to the article and also bookmark the article. People who do so would get 50% more views than people who just submit their article and do noting to promote it.
I am using articlesbase and articlealley more than goarticles.... I think those articles are artificially inflated somehow....
No. It isn't. Acai is an incredibly saturated niche - no single acai article on a free article directory would get over 10,000 legitimate visitors.
