I opened up my DP alerts and I received a message from someone on Digg Forums. They had somehow used a thread that I have subscribed to on "General Chat" to contact me at my home address. I opened it up expecting to read a post on the thread. Instead the message read "Hi I suppose you are surprised to hear from me. I read your profile, you seem interesting. I think we could be friends. Please contact me at @".(It was a Yahoo address) How could someone contact me like this by using a DP alert? I would have assumed that we would be protected from being contacted by people who are not members of DP.
Sorry but I screwed up,I got ticked off and deleted the thing as soon as I read it....my bad. I automatically sweep my deletes.
Well the only way someone can "send" you a message based on a thread subscription is if you are subscribed to get email notices and they reply to the thread.
It was the thread that I subscribed to entitled "I crush on a female colleaque to accompany my nightshift, how to do it".(General Chat) When I got the alert it was marked Digitalpoint Forums-Digg Forums, very odd. What I can remember of the e-mail address is Lillian***@yahoo.com.(the *** is the part I can't remember.
