Hey, I'm not complaining or anything but I still don't know how Google judges people with their PR. I see a lot of people had theirs decreased or still at PR0 after a year or two... my blog DatMoney.com is only like 3 and a half months old and all of a sudden it's a PR4. Honestly, I'm not exactly sure what I did right and how do I avoid getting slapped back to PR0?
PR is determined 100% by incoming links to your site. People who have been adjusted to zero have bought paid links, sold links, or done other methods (like crosslinking their own sites) to manipulate their PR (in google's eyes).
So, besides staying away from selling links or buying links, is there anything else I should stay away from? And how come I always hear about people that don't buy links, sell links or do ANY paid reviews and they still get their PR decreased?
So you're saying if people give me LOTS of backlinks without ME giving one in return, that'll drastically increase my PR?
Keep doing nothing! Dont buy links who are not natural. Some people have their own directories ( 100') , and they sell permanent backlinks. Maybe you will have a 1000 backlinks and you could be a PR4 against someone else who has 50 backlists , but all natural and his websiste is a PR5. Google knows what you done. The only thing you can do is manually you can submit to bookmarking ( diggs etc ) and no more than 25 a day , otherwise Google will see that as a spamming.
nice we made PR3 in 3 months, but I'm pretty confident we know why. ..will have a look at your scenario and see if we can't work it out, and get back to you.
I made PR4 in 2 months, but my website is largely academic, so naturally, a lot of unis link to me, LOL.
well if you look at your link profile you have a good spread of strong links from reasonable PR sites, its 5 pages back on our linkdiagnosis tool before you even get down to PR2 sites and you still have 1 & 2 strength links on the 6th and 7th pages back of the list which is quite unusual. you also have a good amount of links into various different pages which is helping. but well done anyway.
I had one go from PR0 (new) to PR5 in this update, so it's not unreasonable. Good, high quality links with no offenses against Google and you'll be in good shape.
When I launched one of my sites 2 years ago it got a lot of media buzz and 2,5 months later I got a PR6. Had a lot of backlinks from PR6, PR7 and PR8 news sites. I see you have 450+ backlinks. The hard part is keeping the PR and improving it on the long term. In my case when the next PR-update happend, my site went from PR6 to PR4 and has stayed there for the last 15 months orso.
For most of my sites I use pretty much every white-hat strategy out there... Web 2.0 profiles, One way links, link bait, reciprocal links, forum posts, blog comments, relationship building etc... I think its the combination of such a campaign that makes it really powerful. If you rely just on reciprocal linking, or just on posting on other peoples blogs then Google will put the pattern together and see that your linking campaign is not so natural... and they might not like you.
I think because it's not really read as "quality" linkback because it's just an exchange? But thanks everyone for the info! I'm going to have to read all the additional comments tomorrow morning.
Congratulations for high Pr. In my opinion keep doing good work and do only white hat seo as every one suggesting. It will increase your links. I have seen your backlinks are 450 + . keep rocking
Instead of having good quality keyword contents, one important thing you cannot ignore is ---> Update your site more often, Big G will consider to those sites that update more frequent will have some good contents on it... Just only my 2 cents thought...
