Hi all.. Google started selling advertisements on search apparently only since 2000. How did they make money from 1996 to 1999?
They were actually not making money before 2000. Thats what I've seen in a documentary based on google.
Yeah, they got about $1.1 million initial funding.. They hired office at Mountainview.. But 3 yrs with no income? [] Is that possible?!
including Andy Bechtolstein , Yahoo, Tiger woods, Henry A. Kissinger and Arnold Schwarzenegger, Stanford University See http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/3664339.stm
that's what I'm thinking when I'm reading their history: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Google It's like a nature of business. "Build reputation" first ... then "make money"
In a similar vein, Amazon didn't make a profit between 1995 and 2001 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/1775294.stm
Great! Something new which I've discovered today. This topic never crossed my mind before Surprisingly Yahoo is among the list of contributors that provided funding in the initial phase.
Most business didnt make any money when they started. I think Microsoft were making no noney back in the 70s when they started.
The moral of this story is: If you are making no money right now, be happy because you will be rich soon!!! /*tom*/
