How did Google index my website so fast?!

It's been a few months since I started my first website, but there's one thing I really can't figure out!

Let's say I purchased the hosting package on the 1st of January. On the 3rd, two days later, the website wasn't even ready, and Joomla hasn't even been installed there, so only a bunch of directories were there. But Google managed to index my site that day (2 days after I purchased the hosting), with NO links to it anywhere on the Internet!

I know it's great of course that it got indexed so quickly, but how could Google find the website?!! Through a whois database or something?!

What do you think? I just want to solve this dilemma! :D

    could be many reasons.
first, there may be links to the page that you could not find.
second, it found log files, etc that had a reference to the domain.
third, some providers have announcement pages or services that search engines have access to.
fourth, not likely, but somebody with a google toolbar visited the site and a query was sent to google, and google can use this data to find new sites.
    fifth, somebody submitted the domain
sixth, yes, google has access to all whois data as they are registered with icann. furthermore, they have access to the root serves of the internet, as can anybody who wants to download the GBs of data and parse it. DNS servers send dns cache data back and forth, so if the root servers of the internet have the data, google can too.

i cant think of anything else.

in the old days, my programmer used to download the data from the root servers to find domains that were going to expire........he would take this data and query dmoz and yahoo to see if there were listings, in additoin to backlink checks, categorize them based on archive.org data, and then snipe them from enom and other third-party sniping service sites. I can attest that there is a goldmine of data in those GBs of data from the internet root servers to be had (dont ask for any more specs on that project).

In the end, it is Google.
    They can do anything :p

But yeah, maybe your site just presents good quality?

    Thanks for the info!

aramiK, there was nothing to be indexed then, so what quality? :D
Now I'm writing all the articles myself, and as english isn't my native language, I'm doing that too slowly. :(
    I'll get there though!
