How did DPF begin?

    DPF is ranked 112 on alexa overall and while I get that a lot of it was to advertise their main products, what was their secret?

    What made the DPF popular? I get that it would be quality content and good management but there are tons of great forums that never achieve that. What was the tipping point for DPF?
