When the news about bing first hit the streets, the page was blank and i believe it had a page rank of 2. that was a few months ago. next thing i know, when it was launched it allready had a pr of 9. how did microsoft pull that off? Do they know a secret link building stradegy that we dont or did google did them a favor or did they pay google?

Anyone have any ideas? Maybe i dont know pr that good, but to get a pr of 9 in a few months is crazy, even if they built millions of backlinks, it takes google time to index all of them...

    Yeah, He's right.
Live.com which used to be MS's search engine is now redirecting to bing.

because 301 redirect means so.. read the google clearances on this matter by googling it.

Yes a 301 redirect is the code that tells machines that this site has "permanently moved" to the stated location (url).

Each page on the old site also needs to redirect.

The old site is then no longer crawled and ultimately the PR gets transferred too.

If you use 301 redirect, the PR gets transferred.
