Hi Rich, I've noticed a couple of your posts regarding the Alexa ranking and traffic for Aviva Directory. I would guess that an Alexa ranking of under 10K would be a fair indicator that the site does indeed receive some traffic. The correct url is avivadirectory.com and not aviva.com, so I think you may notice quite a difference in the traffic details.
Hi there, Thanks for the correct url. I did check it out on both Alexa and Quantcast. Quantcast seems to think it is getting about 4000 uniques a month. Alexa gives it a much higher ranking, but it is very easy to game Alexa so it is difficult to determine. The erratic traffic pattern of the directory would indicate some SEO work being done. It should be interesting to see what happens once the spiking pattern quiesces into a more normal pattern. Thanks again for your help. Rich
The traffic spikes are likely the result of the buzz factor from some what some would consider controversial issues, as opposed to optimization. There have been a few instances that have driven additional traffic their way. If you look at the overall traffic for the past 12 months, the indication is that it is increasing. I'm going to also guess that it would be pretty difficult to game Alexa and get a ranking of under 10K. Cheers
Quantcast is way off. It says blazemp.com gets approximately 33,889 per month. It gets more than that in two days. It does say US traffic only, but still, way off. Alexa is webmaster skewed, but it is still the best thing we have for webmaster related sites. I don't know the traffic Aviva gets, of course, but I would imagine that it gets closer to 4,000 uniques per day rather than month.
Did Chris and Jeff start out with large amounts of capital to promote or did they start out like most doing manual submission - getting a little rank in the serps and then as the profit started coming in they reinvested?
Yes, I agree. Buzz factor has a lot to do with it. I had several spikes on my site due to some buzz. Cya, Rich
