How could my earnings drop so much?

    Hey,

Just wondering if anyone can somehow put my mind at rest.
For the past month I have been earning about $10-$15 a day from 20-25 clicks a day from a website. (this website has had adsense on it for at least 1 year).

A few days ago, my earnings dropped to $1 per day on average. This is contrasted by the fact that my site is as popular as ever and my clicks have actually gone up 50%!!!

How could earnings have actually dropped to one tenth what they were? This cant be smart pricing surely??? I have had adsense on these pages for a year, so smart pricing would have kicked in way before this... But also, i doubt my advertisers have decreased their bids to a tenth of what they were before? What is going on?

    I think it's smart price. I make 10-15$/day with 150-250 clicks.

Smart pricing might be the reason why my earnings have gone up 3 times in the last 1/4.

Are you guys who are losing AdSense revenue making regular content upgrades? Are you changing your AdSense layout frequently? Are you copying content from other sites?

AdSense seems to be getting smarter regarding real content versus MFA content.

Keep adding fresh content, make sure you do not have broken links on your site.

Start tracking your ad blocks with channels and figure out which ones are paying poorly then start looking at the sites thats being served on your ads - are they poor sites that will not help your visitors? If so consider placing them into the ad filter but careful on how you go as you dont want to remove too many or any that have good payouts.

Each site is different so this may or may not work for you - no harm in trying if your results are poor.

Most likely the drop in revenue is due to Smartpricing. Perhaps those clicks aren't converting well for the advertisers.

It could also be that a big advertiser has stopped their campaigns for awhile, you get lower bids for the ads, and in return lower revenue for clicks.

dsm56, perhaps you can tell about the genre of your site. If it's travel, it is seasonal (summer, winter, etc). Also if it's about Xmas shopping, for example, also seasonal.

It is an online game text based game.
The reason I was so suprised is that ive had adverts up for the past year, why would smart pricing online kick in now?

The adverts are basically displayed on every page. One thing I have noticed is maybe my advert's revenue fell when I took the adverts off the login page, and kept them on the inner pages. This means that when the Adsense bot visits my website, it never sees where the advert actually is.
Maybe google thought I was cheating somehow. I think this might be why...I have changed this now, lets see what happens.

dsm56, if you've been enjoying good CPM before, chances are the decrease is because of the made-for-adsense sites that now have enough to advertise on Adwords.

I've clicked on some ads before and ended up with another website that has more Adsense. The vicious cycle continues. These sites won't likely to be paying much because they need to protect their margin from advertising on Adwords and the income they get from clicks.

    Bummer.

How can I track what Adsense ads are being clicked on and on what page? Is it on my log files by any chance (I don't think it is).
