Well so far its be getting around by word of mouth and getting some traffic, but i was wondering how i could market it to start bringing in more serious traffic. Any tips are appreciated.
search engine is the easiest way. try to get ranked in google search engine by adding some keywords to your site.
I probably need to get our more.. what's a "prank mail site"? (I think I know but then again....). You could try doing a video and posting it YouTube etc ... unless the kind of prank you're talking about has questionable content. But let's say for the sake of argument that there's nothing nefarious involved, you video could be wildly hilarious, get lots of hits.... with well placed links to your web site you could get really good traffic. This sounds like a good candidate for viral marketing, I would try to work the high school and college markets (Collegehumor.com, facebook.com, youtube.com, myspace.com). If it really is funny, then college kids especially will send links to it all over the place. I am not sure exactly what a prank email site is looking for in terms of users, but if your product is good is should promote itself once you get a few good seeds.
Have you tried adding your site to stumbleupon in the humor section i think it would give you a lot of traffic.
I don't know how much you have to play around with but consider researching some SEO strategies you aren't familiar with and start implementing immediately. I would suggest some link building as the basis. Good luck!
