There are many methods to draw more visitors to your site. First you should try to get good SERP rankings with proper On page and Off page optimization. Search Engines gives good targeted traffic. You can use social bookmarking to draw visitors to your sites. E-Mail marketing and Article Marketing are another good methods. PPC is also a good method to draw targeted visitor to your site without getting good SERP rankings but it needs some investment. So In a nutsheel you should make a proper strategy and work on it seriously.
Start reading seo tutorials/guides asap. Establish a decent knowledge base before jumping into promoting your website. If you start without proper knowledge you could end up creating mistakes that have to be fixed down the road. The most important things to learn are keyword research and link building.
make some backlinks. Do comments on related blogs and you will rank better in google. That is the best source of visits
Have a great site with good design and fresh contents Then start building links using different seo strategies. For fast traffic, social bookmarking sites would be a great help.

Just increasing traffic... is that your goal? I think, it should be through natural way rather than paying for it to paid inclusions like PPC hosts. As you are very new to SEO so first participate in few forums and read all post in detail and if i suggest read all post of DP as it is one of the best forum and you will get more knowledge of SEO.
