I'm trying to launch an Adwords campaign that will advertise an affiliate product. I've done it before, successfully more times then none, but now with this new Google algo update, I've been seeing some weird things. First off, let me say I know for a fact that other Adwords ads (only 2 of them) I see when I run a search for this particular keyword are NOT paying $10 a click. More like 7-15 cents. I'm typing in a similar ad and using a similar site (different domain), and Google is trying to get me to pay minimum of $10 a click. Why?
Quality score shouldn't be the problem. The ad is written just fine, keywords and all. The landing page (destination URL) I've tinkered with. First, I've used my affiliate site, and Google wanted $10 a click, then I changed the URL to the products official manufacturer website, and it STILL wanted $10 a click.
So could I register my own domain, either put the entire page in an IFRAME on the new domain or rebuild it altogether, and get a better landing page quality score?
aj22 please let us know the out come of this as i am also wondering how you made out, did you get to 7-15 cents ?
Yes and no. One of my affiliate programs lets you enter the keyword into the affiliate URL, so then the keyword appears in the title and on the page in several areas. I used this URL to start a few dozen campaigns for 10 cents a click successfully. Then I changed the URL to the affiliate program I ultimately wanted to use (and didn't feature the automatic keyword in the page thing). To my surprise, it still worked. But after about 5-10 clicks per keyword, many (about 40%) went inactive and back up to $10. Now I'm in the process of building landing pages. Nothing difficult, just a hassle.
