... than some of very well known, respected and long established sites for example; namely for a search query: lba 80293248 (my site is 4th, i.e. the "Tadej's homepage ..." one) I rank higher than CNET Reviews and Redhat sites !! And there are many other such cases (i.e. many other such keywords), for instance for a query for phrase multitask subnet mask I even rank higher than Microsoft site. P.S. -- Also see here: Keyword Analysis and especially here: Recent Keyword Activity (there're statistics-pages at StatCounter.com) for other such keywords/phrases. tayiper
google doesn't punish your site for not being 'well known'. Your pages appear higher because they are more relevant to the search.
Ehmmm, OK thanks much for the reply, but please could you tell me a bit more explicitly what do you mean by that ?? tayiper
The search terms that you have given as examples are probably not the exact terms that people would use to answer their query. If you do a search for "multitask subnet mask" (including the quotations) you will see that it returns zero results i.e. its a phrase that isnt used. This is one of the reasons your site ranks highly for that keyword, there are probably many other keywords that your site ranks very lowly for. The same applies for lba 80293248, its not a very common term. Any site that uses that term twice on the same web page will appear in the top 10 results. Your site appears higher than redhat.com because your site actually uses the term "lba 80293248" whereas the redhat page use lba and 80293248 seperatly. Use "lba 80293248" twice, in bold on your page and you will rank number 1 soon enough. Hope this helps...
OK, thank you very much "mistermix" for this second reply; it was very educative too (and exactly what I needed to know, or better yet, somehow expected as a question, lol) tayiper
that is the beauty of Google, even small companies or even one man shows can out-rank Fortune 100 companies. Are you ranking for a competitive keyword or just a specific phrase? http://www.google.com/search?source...IC,GGIC:2006-19,GGIC:en&q=ethical+seo+company I show up 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 -Google is 4
Although, if your site is newer, you may find that for certain keywords, you may be in their "sandbox". Especially for more competative phrases... this keeps (and may keep your results too) new sites out of the top searched terms/phrases until they've aged a little.
