How come some websites add 5-6 adsense ads in 1 page!?

    This page has 5 adsense ads..

    I thought the maximum allowed is 3 , or is it only a recommendation ? Please explain..thats not the first incident I saw.

    Actually there are only two ad blocks on this page, or at least I see two!
    One on the sidebar and one after the post.
    The rest are some affiliate ads.

    news.com.au is a premium publisher. They negotiate their own terms and conditions with Google. The usual terms and conditions do not apply to them and other premium publishers.
