How come Same site shows Different Alexa Ratings?

    Hi friends,

    Have you ever seen different alexa ratings for your 'same site'?. See this link their you can see the alexa rating.


    http://newgenredirectory.com/ -- It shows the traffic Rank - 154741


    But if we check it with the alexa site ( or just clicking on the rank display on the site itself )


    Check here - http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/http://newgenredirectory.com -- It shows traffic Rank - 137378

    Why it shows Different Ratings for same site. Did I miss anything?

    dont bother with alexa. traffic rank it shows is fictional and based on users with alexa toolbar installed. they dont mean anything

    Yeah, that's true but mostly alexa ratings consider as good view of traffic..

    Dear,MervikHaums

    You get that because ranked of widget is not update fast by you check direct at page. I have got it before. In my widget i put in my website, it's show lower than i check direct in alexa.com/siteinfo/domain .

    Hi,
    No you havent missed anything, Infact I have a Firefox addon which catched Alexa rank and it shows 154741

    Now one more surprise if you go to http://whois.domaintools.com/newgenresoft.com and then click site profile tab and scroll down it will shows Alexa Rank as #173,648

    Now you must be worried WHY ? The reason i had faced similar issue in past and later found out that whois tool or anyother tool doesnt update alexa frequently so to confirm I waited and after some days go again and check the whois.domaintools or any other tool whatver you have put on your site they will be updated to last one .

    Same is the case of tool displayed on your website and whoistool, infact whoistool is still behind, it havent fetched the latest yet bcoz as per your site its 154741 and whoistool shows 173648 , And your actual current Alexa rank as per live alexa site is 137378. Now after few days you will see your website will be updated to 137378 and whois will show 154741, so they are slow to update ..

    Nothing to worry on your part, You are clear on your side, its tool issue

    Thank you very much dear friend, yes it seems just like a tool issue as the whois is showing pretty weird rank..LOL.. Thanks for your time to reply with much detailed information.

    :D its funny playing with alexa. See now its shows exactly the same rankings with the directory and with alexa.. :)
