Hi, I'm wondering why I'm ranking high in google and can't find my site in
yahoo for the same keywords in yahoo...

Do you have an explaination and some tips to change that?

    Thanks guys...

No real straight answer, just have to keep building content and backlinks to your site.

I have a similiar situation for most of my sites - very high rankings in Google but low rankings in Yahoo.

I have focused on ranking well in google for certain phrases by developing incoming links with proper anchor text - I am guessing that Yahoo must value some other parameters higher in their algorithm.

I am not too concerned because I do get plenty of traffic from Google.

Same here, I find that ranking high in Google is pretty easy these days, as for Yahoo and MSN is still a question to me.

They are not the same search engine and use different algorithm, so it's not strange that you rank well in google but bad in yahoo.

How old is your site? My experience is Yahoo doesn't really like sites that are less than 8-12 months old.

Oddly, with 5 sites, I rank well in either Google or Yahoo/Msn, but never both.

How come is the exact contrary for my site?

There is no best answer here.

Google wants a lot of backlinks,
    Yahoo likes fresh content everyday
Msn wants keywords in your url....
When you get all of these, you are set...

    just my 2 cents.

Google has to consider more than lots of backlinks....?

I would say Yahoo or MSN loves onpage SEO whereas Google may love off page SEO and incoming links on top of the onpage SEO.

    >> in other words, yahoo may like you to have more content with keywords inside it. (based on my experience with one site i have about 2 years old)

It's pretty typical to get ranked in one of them but not two of the SEs. I struggled for months and finally made it top 20 in both SEs. In my case, Google was easier than Yahoo! for the domain.

But subdomains were very good at Yahoo! and nowhere at Google. It's so strange... But now all of them are in top 20s :D

I find that yahoo seems to like older sites. New sites tend to do good in MSN, then google then yahoo for me (though by the time I'm good in Yahoo i've normally been dropped by msn).

My experience is the opposite. Every new site I started scored very well in MSN and Yahoo and over time Google traffic would totally take over, like 300 times more in some cases.

    I get it exactly 50/50

as google analytics show, google sends me around 19% of the total traffic and 18% for yahoo

I have the same problem with my website. I have received about 5k a day solid for 2 years now from Google for my one website and i have a few keywords that have stayed top 10 and a few top 1,2,3 in Google. But threw out the entire time my site has been up i have received close to no traffic from yahoo or msn accept when i first started the website out. I use to get Yahoo and msn traffic for my blogger.com accounts tho but nothing from Google. I Have been reworking my website tho in hopes of gaining some rank's on yahoo. So far i have Signed up for Yahoo's Site explorer.

    https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/

I did all the steps to get verified and added my site map. I also Added Different titles to each of my pages by hand and made sure there wasn't a lot of duplicate stuff accept for my menu and layout. I also worked on my meta tags and robots.txt. I started this at the beginning of January and i started ranking for my main keyword that is also my .com name.

Its so weird i have never understood yahoo but I'm starting to get back into seo and reading a lot of these boards maybe i can find some more things to do to my site to help get rankings in yahoo and msn.
